Vintage Inspired Studio Time

Hi friends!  I recently had the privilege to chat with Mary who owns Vintage Inspired Lifestyle Marketplace in Burlington Vermont.  Her amazing space is located in the heart of the Burlington Arts District off of Pine Street.  (Which by the way is the location of Rebecca Macomber's studio:   the space I use to create my vintage gems. :)  It's an amazing section of town that boasts some of the most inspiring artists.  I have frequented Mary's business for almost two years now.  You can find me buried in the vintage buttons booth.  Today I found lovely Milk Glass Buttons, Garden Themed Buttons, and a rogue Bag Pipe Button; perfect for next year's St. Patty's day!  Blue Blood's necklaces have taken off so I decided to get some studio time in as well.  XO!

Too many buttons and not enough time!

Tackling The Tackle Box

My jewelry seems to be outgrowing the cases they are currently in so as opposed to a typical black and rather expensive case - I opted for a tackle box.  After much research, Santa ended up gifting me one!  :)  I forgot to take a photo of the original (I found a blurry image online), but I managed to do a step by step of its modernization.  I couldn't imagine my jewelry in such a boring box, so I had to jazz it up.  I bought decals from Etsy and used left over fabric to line the inside to protect the metal.  Now every time I open it, I feel much happier looking at them!

Tedious yes, but with patience the decals added some feminine flare!

I used paper templates to figure out the size.  Then I cut the fabric around them.

Brushing on good ol' Elmers glue helped adhere the fabric to the bottom.

Un Weekend á Montréal

Salut!  Over the weekend I road tripped it with Britnee and Amanda to beautiful Montreal.  One night was surely not enough time to explore but I don't think we did half bad either.

We enjoyed our mommies night out at the Ritz-Carlton Montreal and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!  I desperately tried to find some quaint boutiques filled with unique jewelry but in all honestly, we were caught up in big city shopping and uncomfortably cold weather.  So, sorry I can show you anything about the arts in Montreal.  But the bright side is I can always go back and explore as I hear they have a great art scene.

It's been an interesting 2014 thus far and Montreal gave me the centering I needed.  I love everything about the French lifestyle there.  It's language, it's food, it's overall culture.   Vermont is closest I can get to France in the US and luckily Montreal is just around the corner & gives me the fix I need.  Dinner at Rosalies & shopping at normal chain stores was refreshing.  Montreal is architectural illuminating & artfully refreshing if you need a spark of inspiration.   I hope you'll enjoy the photos.
